FAP is around the corner and i figure i should voice my opinion about the show and the behavior of artists that havent been able to perform. im really not trying to single anyone out..but i know that if you havent been vocal about it…youre most likely thinking it.
Last year, a lot of things were promised to a lot of people by one guy. though he fell short with fulfilling those promises, people still counted on him to go through with what he had said to them. this year, as an organization, the FAP committee and btvfam wanted to make sure that if a promise was made, then it will be done. being a part of the whole music community and a part of btvfam, i know what its like to be an artist who just wants to perform..but i also know that i should give the opportunity to those who dont have that chance as often as i do. however..i feel that MOST of us have forgotten the whole purpose of this show: the charity. last year, like i said..a lot of promises were made by one guy..but it made the whole btvfam look bad. so a lot of this years planning involved a lot of damage control. we want to make sure that the public knows we are really here to help the children’s hunger fund and not just a bunch of local singers finding an excuse to perform for people so we can satisfy our hunger for fame. so stop being selfish and realize what youre really performing/attending for…not just for FAP but every benefit concert.
i was also promised a full set at this years FAP..but i knew that once the organization of the whole show changed, my promised would no longer stand..common sense. but it would never make me change my mind in going because for me, FAP is about family. btvfam and everyone on btv have been the best support system ive ever had. theyve become my real family..people i confide in and just talk to every day. so this show is about finally being together all in one place. because if their company is great online..imagine how amazing itll be in person.
many people may wonder why the setlist changed so drastically and rethink attending the show..but i hope this can change your mind.
benefit concerts are put on all the time..almost every week. The line-up ALWAYS the same and there is so much talent that hasnt been but NEEDS to be heard. from one performer to another i can say its easy to get a show if you really try. then once your name gets out..youre doing 2-3 shows a week. if you find yourself performing for the same crowd..why hog the spotlight? why not give another performer a chance? this community is supposed to a family..not a competition. help someone else out..encourage someone else..because you could be an inspiration to them. you could be the reason they wanted to start performing. think about it. dont whine over the fact that the crowd knows you better and someone else is up there stealing your stage time. the crowd knows you either way so you still get treated like a star.
this whole situation irritates me because people dont know how stressful it is to put on a concert..especially one this big. then on top of planning..there are people on the side asking for sympathy.. making the committee look like jerks. theyre doing the best they can and theyre trying their best to accommodate who they can. they just want whats best for the charity..and for the audience.
if you feel like youre whats best..put on your own show.
